Ram Hariharan is head of applied artificial intelligence at macro-eyes and affiliate professor at Northeastern University. A data scientist, story teller and public speaker, Ram has a long track record of applying state-of-the-art machine learning techniques to effectively tackle challenges in healthcare.Ram’s career highlights include his work on predictive vaccine supply chains, biomedical image recognition, computational oncology, bio-molecular networks, probabilistic genome models and aging. Prior to his joining macro-eyes, Ram was senior data scientist at Fred Hutch, Seattle. He has also worked at multiple premier research institutes in Seattle, including at the Institute for Systems Biology and the University of Washington. Ram has also held visiting scientist appointments at RIKEN, Japan and been a British Council Scholar at the University of Oxford, UK.Ram’s typical week is punctuated by meetings, long “thinking” walks and data wrangling while his weekends are spent telling stories; his love for story telling spills over to the courses he teaches as affiliate faculty at Northeastern.He hails from Kerala, India and has a PhD in computational biology. When he’s not telling data stories, he writes fiction aimed at children. A hardcore foodie, Ram’s outings with his wife and daughter frequently culminate in them checking out the newest eatery in town.
